This is done to be more consistent with future field naming conventions,
and to make automatic generation of lenses simpler. See discussion in
\#1545.
rsOpts -> _rsReportOpts
rsToday -> _rsDay
rsQuery -> _rsQuery
rsQueryOpts -> _rsQueryOpts
reportq from the ReportSpec, rather than being supplied as a separate
option.
This is the same approach used by the other reports, e.g. EntryReport,
PostingReport, MultiBalanceReport. This reduces code duplication, as
previously the reportq had to be separately tweaked in each of 5
different places.
If you call accountTransactionreport, there is no need to separately
derive the report query.
tsInit based on the previous RegisterScreen. Use the RegisterScreen
logic for selecting the new transaction when we cannot find the existing
one.
This enables us to get rid of regenerateTransactions. There is now
different behaviour in the transaction screen when the journal is
reloaded and the transaction being viewed is no longer available, but I
have not been able to find an example which exhibits this different
behaviour. I think it is better to have consistent behaviour between the
register screen and transaction screen when determining which to select.
This corrects a bug where you had to reload twice to reset the valuation
and cost flags, due to the elimination of regenerateTransactions.
screen (#1556). Also really clear cost setting when doing so.
Since plog is no longer used anywhere, and tends to create bugs when it
is, we remove it.
Documentation for editFileAtPositionCommand is made more
precise.
This commit makes it possible for hledger-ui to open
a file at the last line on emacs and kakoune.
It also prevents hledger-ui from opening an editor with
imprecise arguments. Passing imprecise arguments to editors
can cause undefined behaviors in editors.
I tested it with emacs(client), nano, vscode, kakoune,
nvim, and vis.
transactions are balanced possibly using explicit prices, but without
inferring any prices. This is included in --strict mode.
Renames check autobalanced to check balancedwithautoconversion.
instead of a list of Amounts. No longer export Mixed constructor, to
keep API clean (if you really need it, you can import it directly from
Hledger.Data.Types). We also ensure the JSON representation of
MixedAmount doesn't change: it is stored as a normalised list of
Amounts.
This commit improves performance. Here are some indicative results.

If you never directly use the constructor Mixed or pattern match against
it then you don't need to make any changes. If you do, then do the
following:
- If you really care about the individual Amounts and never normalise
your MixedAmount (for example, just storing `Mixed amts` and then
extracting `amts` as a pattern match, then use should switch to using
[Amount]. This should just involve removing the `Mixed` constructor.
- If you ever call `mixed`, `normaliseMixedAmount`, or do any sort of
amount arithmetic (+), (-), then you should replace the constructor
`Mixed` with the function `mixed`. To extract the list of Amounts, use
the function `amounts`.
- If you ever call `normaliseMixedAmountSquashPricesForDisplay`, you can
replace that with `mixedAmountStripPrices`. (N.B. this does something
slightly different from `normaliseMixedAmountSquashPricesForDisplay`,
but I don't think there's any use case for squashing prices and then
keeping the first of the squashed prices around. If you disagree let
me know.)
- Any remaining calls to `normaliseMixedAmount` can be removed, as that
is now the identity function.
Exceptions are for dealing with the pamount field, which is really just
dealing with an unnormalised list of amounts.
This creates an API for dealing with MixedAmount, so we never have to
access the internals outside of Hledger.Data.Amount.
Also remove a comment, since it looks like #1207 has been resolved.
On the accounts screen and register screen we round amounts according
to commodity styles, but when you drill down to a transaction you
probably want to see the unrounded amounts.

You can now combine costing and valuation, for example "--cost
--value=then" will first convert to costs, and then value according to
the "--value=then" strategy. Any valuation strategy can be used with or
without costing.
If multiple valuation and costing strategies are specified on the
command line, then if any of them include costing
(-B/--cost/--value=cost) then amounts will be converted to cost, and for
valuation strategy the rightmost will be used.
--value=cost is deprecated, but still supported and is equivalent to
--cost/-B. --value=cost,COMM is no longer supported, but this behaviour can be
achieved with "--cost --value=then,COMM".
costing and valuation.
This currently is given a dummy NoCost argument and is equivalent to
"maybe id (*ApplyValuation ...)", but provides a constant interface so
that internal behaviour can be changed freely.
Also adds a postingDate argument to amountApplyValuation, and re-orders
the ValuationType and (Transaction/Posting) arguments to
(transaction/posting)ApplyValuation, to be consistent with
amountApplyValuation.
This seems to be fallout from #1340's
2020-09-16 d0d39e615 lib,cli,ui,web: Introduce ReportSpec, which holds ReportOpts, the day of the report, and the parsed Query.
querystring_.
This helps deal with tricky quoting issues, as we no longer have to make
sure everything is quoted properly before merging it into a string.
This introduces some new helper functions which are exactly the same
as what we had before, but do not call
normaliseMixedAmountSquashPricesForDisplay, so that we can use the new
functions for displaying Transaction and Posting. It also goes through
and gets rid of most uses of the old showMixed* functions which would
benefit from using the new interface.
This changes showMixedAmountElided so that the width to elide to is
given as an argument, rather than fixed at 22 characters. This
actually uses the new renderTable interface. Mostly this is just an
internal change, but since we have more information about the widths
of things, we can actually get rid of some superfluous spaces in the
budget report output, previously there to make sure it stayed aligned
with the largest reasonable contents.
Previously showMixedAmountElided would show two amounts and then the
elision string if necessary. Now it will display as many Amounts as it
can subject to the condition that the amounts plus the elision string
fit within 22 characters.
This is an API change, but it seems better than having additional
colour-supporting variants and trying to avoid duplicated code.
I stopped short of changing showAmount, so cshowAmount still exists.
Periodic transactions were always on, which meant that periodic
transactions occurring today were always shown, in future or present
mode.
Now, both periodic transactions and display of future transactions are
controlled by --forecast, and toggleable by the F key ("forecast
mode"). The --future flag has been dropped (it still works as a hidden
alias for --forecast, but is deprecated).
It seemed to also make sense to leave auto postings off by default,
like hledger.
These Ledger-ish spellings were dropped over the years, to improve
--help's layout. Now they work again, but are considered hidden flags
so --help doesn't show them automatically (but I decided to mention
them manually in --date2's description).
I should have supported latest brick, to get into stackage nightly.
Now it does.
No upper bound, once again; responding lazily to brick API changes
seems less disruptive overall.
The green/red scheme helped distinguish the changes column from the
black/red balance column, but the default green is hard to read on
the pale background in some terminals. Less is more. Also the changes
column is non-bold now.
You may have transactions dated later than today, perhaps piped from
print --forecast or recorded in the journal, which you don't want to
see except when forecasting.
By default, we now hide future transactions, showing "today's balance".
This can be toggled with the F key, which is easier than setting a
date query. --present and --future flags have been added to set the
initial mode.
(Experimental. Interactions with date queries have not been explored.)
Builtin commands are now gathered more tightly in a single module,
Hledger.Cli.Commands, reducing duplication and facilitating change.
The tests command was difficult and has been dropped for now.
The obsolete convert/info/man commands have been dropped.
cli: refactor: a proper commands list, better Main/Commands separation
The legacy "convert" command has been dropped.
The activity command's module is now named consistently.
When the transaction list changes, eg due to toggling a query filter,
and the previously selected item has disappeared, instead of moving
the selection to the end, we now select the nearest transaction by
date (and if several have the same date, by journal order).
In the accounts and register screens:, you can now scroll down further
so that the last item need not always be shown at the bottom of the screen.
Also we now try to center the selected item in the following situations:
- after moving to the end with Page down/End
- after toggling filters (status, real, historical..)
- on pressing the control-l key (should force a screen redraw, also)
- on entering the register screen from the accounts screen (there's a
known problem with this: it doesn't work the first time).
Items near the top of the list can't be centered, as we don't scroll
higher than the top of the list.
