69edf9003e web: don't hang when reloading the file, eg after adding a transaction (#1409) 
This was caused by an circular reference in an untested code path
in getViewData, added some months ago (lines 211-212 in 260283e2:
"lib,cli,ui,web: Introduce ReportSpec, which holds ReportOpts, the day of the report, and the parsed Query.").

This kind of bug unfortunately seems to be easy to create in Haskell,
and sometimes quite tedious to track down.

For this particular case, we should add a suitable test to the hledger-web
test suite, and/or set up a pre-release human test script, like hledger-ui's.
The bug was very obvious to the first downloader of hledger-web 1.20,
but it seems over the last three months nobody used a hledger-web built
from master. Providing and encouraging use of nightly builds could also help.

b76a88aa81 web: fix --forecast breakage since 1.18 (fix #1390) 
Replaces the partial HashMap.! with List.elemIndex.
(Although the HashMap is more algorithmically efficient,
its API changed recently, possibly complicating building,
and efficiency is just not going to be an issue here.)

44c3eb1904 add a color argument to most amount show helpers, drop cshow variants 
This is an API change, but it seems better than having additional
colour-supporting variants and trying to avoid duplicated code.
I stopped short of changing showAmount, so cshowAmount still exists.

96b4f0be4f require newer Decimal, math-functions, fixing inconsistent rounding 
Decimal 0.5.1+ changed to banker's rounding (round to nearest even
number), and math-functions 0.3.3.0 (used by roi) fixed various
precision-related issues. Now we require the latest versions of these.
This was causing some functional test failures when building with old
GHCs/snapshots.

7ec25da13a web: edit/upload: normalise line endings, avoiding parse errors (#1194) 
Renamed: writeValidJournal -> writeJournalTextIfValidAndChanged

Added comments clarifying line ending behaviour of:
add, import, appendToJournalFileOrStdout, readFilePortably,
writeFileWithBackupIfChanged, writeJournalTextIfValidAndChanged

Summary of current behaviour:

- hledger add and import commands will append with (at least some)
  unix line endings, possibly causing the file to have mixed line
  endings

- hledger-web edit and upload forms will write the file with
  the current system's native line endings, ie changing all
  line endings if the file previously used foreign line endings.

Remove a bunch of trailing whitespace with M-x whitespace-cleanup.
Except for examples showing hledger output, which might be tested
with shelltest some day, so stripping that whitespace might be problematic.

76ffaca466 web: Add IPv6 and hostname support 
This commit introduces IPv6 support (and thus closes #1145).
It also allows using local hostnames as a parameter for --host.
For this, multiple things needed to be changed:

 - checkWebOpts is dropped, as the supplied parameter is checked later
 by Network.Socket.getAddrInfo
 - defbaseurl needs to check if : is used in the host, as this indicates
 the usage of an IPv6 address. In this case, the host needs to be
 wrapped in [] for the base URL
 - To allow opening such a modified base URL, runHostPortFullUrl is used
 instead of runhostPortUrl, as it allows opening arbitrary URLs instead
 of a path prefixed with http://127.0.0.1

As checking the host for validity is postponed until the webserver tries
to start, an invalid hostname leads to an exception caused by
Network.Socket.getAddrInfo.
This is still fine, as hledger-web won't start in an undefined state, but
will terminate with a nonzero exit code.

72acd7c22a web: Add option --socket to use UNIX socket file 
This commit adds the --socket option to use hledger-web over an AF_UNIX socket
file.
It allows running multiple instances of hledger-web on the same system without
having to manually choose a port for each instance, which is helpful for running
individual instances for multiple users. In this scenario, the socket path is
predictable, as it can be derived from the username.

It also introduces the following dependencies:

 - network
   - Used to create the unix domain socket
 - unix-compat
   - Used to identify if the socket file is still a socket, to reduce the risk
     of deleting a file when cleaning up the socket

A single transaction can be added by PUT to /add.
(I read that PUT, not POST, should be used to create;
perhaps the web add form should also use PUT ?)

As with the web form, the `add` capability is required (and enabled by
default).

18ffa65168 tools: move setversion to shake, use PKG/.version, set upper bounds 
./Shake setversion will now propagate the version number in each
package's .version file, to all the places in that package where it's
needed (ie the defs.m4 file and multiple places in the package.yaml
file. Also it now updates upper bounds on other hledger packages
to the next major version. (The new lower/upper bounds may not always

0ce9c5728a switch to base-compat-batteries to fix ghc 7.10 support (#794) 
base-compat-batteries provides the same API across more ghc versions
than base-compat does, at the cost of more dependencies. Eg it exports
Prelude.Compat ((<>)) with ghc 7.10/base 4.8, which we expect.
My belief is that several of our deps already require it so the added
cost is not too great. We should probably go back to base-compat when
possible though, eg when we stop supporting ghc 7.10.

8c0c168cd6 Fix the build of hledger-lib with ghc 8.0.x and base-compat 0.10.x. 
We don't need to import Data.Monoid because Prelude.Compat exports "<>"
already. In fact, importing that module causes build failures:

    Hledger/Read/Common.hs:725:62: error:
        Ambiguous occurrence ‘<>’
        It could refer to either ‘Sem.<>’,
                                 imported from ‘Prelude.Compat’ at Hledger/Read/Common.hs:97:1-39
                                 (and originally defined in ‘Data.Semigroup’)
                              or ‘Data.Monoid.<>’,
                                 imported from ‘Data.Monoid’ at Hledger/Read/Common.hs:110:1-18

667a1d7e59 remove upper bounds on all but hledger* and base 
It's rare that my deps break their api or that newer versions must be avoided,
and very common that they release new versions which I must tediously
and promptly test and release hackage revisions for or risk falling out
of stackage. Trying it this way for a bit.

e9ff1280d7 web: don't write a session file at startup 
The .hledger-web_client_session_key.aes file written at startup is
cluttersome and means hledger-web can only be started from a writable
directory. What do we lose if I disable it ?

says "Default: Uses clientsession with a 2 hour timeout."
http://hackage.haskell.org/package/clientsession-0.9.1.2 says
"Securely store session data in a client-side cookie."

I think: hledger-web saves (eg) the state of the sidebar as session
data, in a cookie, and my web browser saves that locally. And this
still seems to work, across server restarts. So what's the purpose of
saving this "client session" file on the server ? Let's disable it and
find out.

d12d7e2228 use bootstrap-datepicker 
This also validates transaction date and description upon form submission. As noted in
the issue, this removes hledger-web's "smart date" functionality. This
functionality can be restored giving the demand but should be tracked in
another issue.
Previous iterations used input[type=date], but it isn't easily
crossbrowser and the polyfill I found had some quirks.

Builtin commands are now gathered more tightly in a single module,
Hledger.Cli.Commands, reducing duplication and facilitating change.

The tests command was difficult and has been dropped for now.

The obsolete convert/info/man commands have been dropped.

cli: refactor: a proper commands list, better Main/Commands separation

The legacy "convert" command has been dropped.

The activity command's module is now named consistently.

87e281a45d restore upper bounds on hledger packages 
I dropped these last month, perhaps without meaning to.
They probably should stay. hledger-ui (eg) will still build
with minor updates of hledger-lib or hledger, but will require
either a release or a hackage revision to build with a major
update.

A few packages which included the Paths_* module no longer do,
and this seems ok with stack and cabal as far as I can tell.
That should be the only change, aside from a bunch of reorderings.
